Dr. Amber Bocknek is a family physician with more than 25 years of clinical experience and the Medical Director of Thrive! MedAesthetics + Wellness in Aurora, Ontario. Her approach is warm and gentle, and her aesthetic work is planned to look natural. She earned her medical degree at the University of Ottawa in 1996.

Her love for procedural work in emergency medicine and her background in biophysics sparked her interest in cosmetic and laser procedures. She began her laser and cosmetic practice in 1999 and has lectured and taught locally and internationally.

Years of emergency medicine, inpatient care, and complex chronic illness gave Dr. Bocknek an intimate understanding of what happens when the body’s systems go unaddressed across a lifetime of life stages. It is that experience, more than any certification, that drives her commitment to healthspan medicine: she has seen where the road leads when we wait, and she has spent the last 25 years helping her patients take control and change their trajectory.

Amber has a way of helping her patients feel at ease. She explains everything in a practical, patient-focused way, making people feel their concerns are heard and supported.

She is certified in family medicine by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP), board certified by ABAARM, a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) and an A4M Fellow (FAAMM), and a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). She is registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and is a member of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA). Thrive! holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Nestor Torres brings more than 28 years of experience in cosmetic and anti-aging care to the Thrive! team. An international medical graduate of El Bosque University in Bogotá, Colombia (Class of 1993), Nestor works at Thrive! as a clinical extender under physician direction, pairing deep clinical knowledge with an artistic eye for facial harmony.

His experience spans botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments, laser therapies, and facial and body rejuvenation. Nestor's approach starts with each patient's anatomy and goals.

Nestor's interest in longevity and anti-aging medicine runs deep. He has taught and lectured for medical professionals internationally, and his knowledge of healthspan, hormone care and regenerative medicine informs the personalized plans our team builds. For Nestor, keeping up with longevity science is part of the job.

Known for his calm manner and careful technique, Nestor plans treatments to look natural and to preserve the features that make each face its own.

Tina Bourgeois has worked as a laser technician for more than 19 years. Her understanding of laser physics and skin biology guides every session, with careful settings and safety checks at each step.

Tina works across a wide range of laser treatments, from hair removal and skin resurfacing to vascular and pigmentation treatments, and keeps her skills current through ongoing education and hands-on device training.

Tina takes pride in building long-term relationships with the people she treats, and her warm, reassuring manner puts even first-time patients at ease.

Yar Parra is the warm, welcoming presence that greets every client who walks through the doors of Thrive!. Originally from Mexico City, she brings 27 years of world-class customer service experience and a natural gift for making people feel valued and cared for.

As Client Experience Manager, Yar orchestrates every touchpoint of the patient journey - from the first phone call to post-treatment follow-ups. She ensures scheduling runs seamlessly, coordinates treatment plans with the clinical team, and anticipates patient needs before they arise.

Yar's bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, combined with her empathetic communication style, makes her an invaluable bridge between patients and practitioners. DR. LIESBET JANSEN

Liesbet Jansen, MD, CCFP, is a family physician with more than 25 years in clinical practice. Just as important, she understands what it means to care for women in a real, human way.

She completed her medical training at McMaster University and residency at University of Toronto, going on to practise in diverse settings, from New Zealand to northern Canada, before building a full family practice and hospitalist career in Toronto. Over time, like many of the women she now cares for, she made a conscious shift toward a slower, more meaningful life, relocating with her family and continuing her work in both hospital and community care. She has served as Chief of the inpatient unit at Stevenson Memorial Hospital and now focuses on home-based and palliative care.

In recent years, Liesbet has developed a deep passion for helping women navigate the often confusing and frustrating transition through menopause. She recognizes how many women feel dismissed, unheard, or left to "figure it out" on their own.
